With the Great British Bake Off final looming ever closer, I embraced my inner Mary Berry at the weekend and visited the ‘Cake and Bake’ Show.
On my way to the ExCel London, accompanied by my mother (also an avid baker) we discussed our expectations of the show. We were mostly hoping for lots of free samples and we certainly weren’t disappointed in that department.
When we arrived at the exhibition we entered what can only be described as bakers’ heaven. Pink bunting lined the stands and an array of cupcakes, cake pops, millionaire shortbread and cookies were round every corner.
Across the three days that the show ran a number of celebrity ambassadors held a selection of workshops and talks including Rosemary Shrager, a versatile TV celebrity chef who hosted a ‘Decorating and Finishing’ class. We had the pleasure of meeting Lisa Faulkner, who appeared on BBC 1’s Celebrity MasterChef. Lisa was at the show signing copies of her new book “Recipes from My Mother to my Daughter”.
The highlight of the show for me was taking a look at the entries to the ‘Cake and Bake’ show competition. People of all skill levels created absolutely incredible cakes to be judged by Rosemary Shrager, Phil Vickery and Rosie Mazumder. Check out some of the AMAZING entries I saw below.
The show had a fantastic atmosphere and I will definitely be returning next year. For further information on The Cake and Bake Show please see here.
